Celebrating NSW Volunteers

September 1, 2025

Congratulations to our Bronze Level volunteers!

We’re thrilled to celebrate three inspiring Duke of Ed volunteers who have been recognised at the NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards for their outstanding commitment to community service.

Mikylah Bater and Hannah Cooper from Blacktown Girls High School have both been awarded the 2025 Outer Western Sydney Adult Volunteer of the Year Award for their dedicated work with Riding for the Disabled Association (NSW) Tall Timbers Centre.

Ariba Omar from Kooringal High School, Wagga Wagga, has been named the 2025 Riverina Young Volunteer of the Year. Ariba’s incredible contribution spans multiple roles, including Youth Week Ambassador for Wagga Wagga Council, active member of CWA Wagga Branch, student representative council member, Sun-Safety Ambassador, and member of the NSW Cancer Council Youth Advisory Group.

Volunteering is at the heart of the Duke of Ed journey. The Voluntary Service Section gives young people the opportunity to give back, connect with their communities, and understand the importance of their role in shaping both local and global society.

Congratulations Mikylah, Hannah, and Ariba. We’re so proud of you!
