Disadvantaged Youth Program delivers on education priorities

March 26, 2026

Latest report shows program directly aligns with outcomes set out in the Better and Fairer Schools Agreement (2025-2034)

Over the past ten years, the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award – Australia’s Disadvantaged Youth Program has supported over 12,500 young people with access to the Duke of Ed Framework through targeted Australian Government funding.

An independent evaluation by The Insight Partnership shows the Duke of Ed is delivering real outcomes that are strongly aligned with national education priorities.

Duke of Ed Australia’s CEO, Helen White, says, “The Disadvantaged Youth Program removes cost as a barrier to participation and ensures that more young people can access the proven benefits of the Duke of Ed.

“Continued investment in this program helps unlock potential, strengthen educational outcomes and creates more equitable opportunities for young Australians facing disadvantage. Talent is evenly distributed. Opportunity should be too.”

The outcomes in this evaluation directly align with national priorities set out in the Better and Fairer Schools Agreement (2025-2034), supporting student engagement, equity, improving educational attainment, strengthening wellbeing and helping young people successfully transition into further education, training and employment.
