International Award Foundation
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation is responsible for the Award’s global delivery growth through its network of National Award Operators (NAOs). There are currently 130 countries operating the Award around the world.
The International Award Foundation drives the Award’s entry into new countries – raising awareness of the value of non-formal education – while supporting NAOs in their efforts to maintain consistency across the global Award Framework. For more information visit Intaward

International Award Association
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is administered on behalf of its Board of Trustees by the International Award Association, currently based in London. With initial authority established on the 18th of January 1961, the Board of Trustees delegates responsibility for the Award and authority for its operation in Australia through a triannual licence.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award - Australia
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award - Australia is a company limited by guarantee and is licensed by The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation as the National Award Operator (NAO) in Australia. Comprised of the National Board and National Management Team, the NAO in Australia has entered licences with organisations and government agencies (Award Operating Authorities) to deliver the Award in most State or Territory. The ACT and SA Offices are directly managed by the NAO. The NAO also operates as a National Virtual Award Centre for some young people to enable them to complete their Award.

Award Operating Authorities (State and Territory Offices)
The licence between The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award – Australia (NAO) and each State and Territory Award Offices (sometimes referred to as Award Operating Authority or AOAs) enables the AOA to manage the delivery of the Award in their State or Territory. Under these licence agreements, the AOAs acknowledge their overall responsibility to deliver the Award Framework in compliance with their licence and laws of its State or Territory.
