The Duke of Ed is seeking Australian Government funding to continue and expand support of disadvantaged youths
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award – Australia has recently submitted a Pre-Budget request to Treasury calling on the Australian Government to continue to expand the Disadvantaged Youth Program.
Duke of Ed Australia’s CEO, Helen White, says, “An independent evaluation by The Insight Partnership shows the Duke of Ed has been a meaningful support for young people facing real barriers to participation.
“The impact on students has been profound and practical. Students describe developing life skills and maturity, including goal setting and balancing priorities.
“We welcome the opportunity to continue working alongside the Australian Government to ensure that disadvantaged students are afforded opportunities to thrive both at school and in life.”
$6.0 million over four years (2026-2027 to 2029-2030) has been requested to continue and expand this effective and established Disadvantaged Youth Program, enabling at least 6,000 students from priority equity cohorts to access and complete the Duke of Ed.
