Call for young Australians to join new Youth Advisory Groups and have a say on issues important to them

January 24, 2023

We're excited to share that the Australian Youth Affairs Coalition are working with the Australian Government to launch five new Youth Advisory Groups.

These groups will see 40 young people working with federal departments and agencies to help shape national policies and programs.

Each advisory group will focus on a different policy area, and will consist of eight young people between the ages of 16-24. The groups are:

  • First Nations
  • Mental Health and Wellbeing
  • Promotion of STEM
  • Climate Change and Conference of the Parties (COP)
  • Safe and Supported: The National Framework for Protecting Australia’s Children 2021-31

Members will attend training in Canberra and meet politicians, government officials, and other young people.

The advisory groups will be supported by the Australian Government Department of Education and Australian Youth Affairs Coalition.

Applications are now open to join the advisory groups, and will close at 5PM on Sunday 12 February. You can find out more about the advisory groups and the application process here.
