Today is a landmark moment for the Duke of Ed in Australia! One of the most significant updates in our history is now live: a re-imagined Bronze Level that makes the Duke of Ed more accessible, inclusive and scalable than ever before.
Why We’re Evolving
As we look toward the Duke of Ed’s 70th anniversary in 2026, we remain committed to ensuring every young person, wherever they live and whatever their circumstances, has the opportunity to benefit from this globally recognised non-formal education framework.
Employers and tertiary institutions are increasingly seeking verified evidence of skills gained outside the classroom. At the same time, young people want ways to stand out when applying for their first job or tertiary studies.
These shifts inspired a nationwide consultation with educators, employers, parents, young people and community partners. The message was clear: keep the Duke of Ed relevant, future-ready and welcoming to all.
Key Improvements to the Bronze Level
The refreshed Bronze Level reflects this feedback and introduces the most significant changes in decades:
These changes maintain the rigour and spirit of the Duke of Ed while making it more accessible for young Australians to get a taste of and enjoy the positive impact and outcomes the Duke of Ed can offer.
