The Hon Malcolm Turnbull and Ms Lucy Turnbull AO recognise Award Ambassadors in London

The Hon Malcolm Turnbull and Ms Lucy Turnbull AO met with forty plus Australian Award Ambassadors last night in London. Ms Turnbull AO is an Ambassador of The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award in Australia, a program which supports disadvantaged young Australians to participate in the Award, regardless of their location or circumstance.

Each year in Australia over 800 Participants receive special assistance funding to commence and compete their Award.

The Award Ambassadors who are gathered in London for the annual Ambassador Dinner at Buckingham Palace enjoyed the impromptu visit by the Prime Minister and Ms Turnbull.   

Mr Philip Trelevan, The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award UK Services Director addressed the group highlighting the size and scale of the Award globally with annual participation rates increasing to almost 1,200,000 young people across more than 140 countries. With 19% of new Participants being from a disadvantaged background the Award is making a significant impact to thousands of young lives.

Special guest Lord Goodlad, former British High Commissioner to Australia also addressed the group and thanked Ambassadors for their support and committment to developing future generations of young people who are motivated and engaged citizens, equipped for life and work.
